2008 Canoe Classic
Sunday, June 15th, from 9am
The Spokane River Canoe Classic Classic has evolved into a great family event on Father’s Day weekend, and over 150 participants and spectators are expected to come out this year. This all-ages, all-abilities day is for everyone. There are two courses to choose from, with a 4-mile “Citizens” course for casual paddlers, and an 8-mile “Marathon” course for those interested in testing their endurance.
The start of the race is quite spectacular, with over 100 colorful boats taking off together. Most participants make a day of it and bring picnic lunches and games to enjoy during and after the races. At the end of the day, winners in each division are awarded, and all participants are entered into a drawing for prizes from our many sponsors.
Participants can register by themselves or as a team of two. There are three categories: Men's, Women's, and Mixed (team), with awards for the top finishers in each category. Registration is only $20.00 per person ($25 per person on the day of the race), with a portion of the proceeds going to the Spokane Canoe and Kayak Club.
Directions: Go north on Nine Mile Road, turn left on W Charles Road. Turn right on N Hedin Road and left at 14925 N Hedin Road. Look for the signs!
