| Lucas
Jmieff |
|
Lucas Jmieff ( pronounced: Jim - eye - ef ) is a 29 year old snow sports and
lifestyles photographer based in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia,
Canada. The evocative winter images Lucas creates stem from the progressive
backcountry snowboard movement and the light powder snow of high terrain
Kootenay Mountains. By combining the growing reputation of the Kootenays as a
world-class powder destination with his "artful mountain genius", Lucas
composes images that have become iconic of the "personal powder pursuit". A
pursuit that has become a visual gateway for Lucas' images to a wider audience.
For Lucas it all started at the age of 17, in the grand winter playground of
the BC mountains. After sending some of his favorite photos to a Vancouver
snow/skate publication Lucas received his first magazine assignment for
Concrete Powder Magazine. The years that followed brought him into the scope of
publications such as Snowboard Canada, Transworld Snowboarding, Snow Board,
Frequency, Method Mag and many more. Lucas has done commercial and fashion work
for numerous snowboard and outerwear companies and his winter sports images are
represented by a European photo agency. Lucas currently resides in Nelson, BC.
He pursues assignment work for Snowboard Canada Magazine, contributes to
various other snowboard publications and companies. He has taken on many other
off-season avenues in his photography including, portraiture, weddings,
fashion, product and fine art landscapes. He is about to launch his new
website, so be sure to check it out Dec. 5th 2008.

action sports photography, his first season of dedicated shooting landed his
images in many international magazines.
While not taking photos, skiing, surfing, or biking, Nicolas is finishing up a
Master’s of Science degree at the University of British Columbia where he
