Brooke Edwards
Brooke Edwards comes to the festival from the mountains of Alaska where she has been teaching telemark and alpine skiing for 7 years at Alyeska Mountain Resort. She also works in the backcountry as a NOLS instructor and has helped organize Telemark Free skiing competitions in North America and Europe. In her spare time she skis the excellent backcountry of the Chugach Range.

Tom Gellie
Tele Tom is a passionate and funloving redhead who travels between the Australian and Canadian winters helping inspire others to be lifelong skiers. He currently holds his level 2 Telemark, Level 2 alpine and coaches freestyle skiing for the Silverstar Freestyle club. Other festivals he has run clinics for include the Whistler Backcountry Freeride Jam and Telefest in Australia.

Larry Goldie
Larry has been guided in various ranges around North America as well as the European Alps since 1991. He currently guides for North Cascades Mountain Guides and is the Snow Safety Director for North Cascades Heli Skiing. Larry is a IFMGA certified Mountain Guide and also teaches avalanche courses throughout the north west. makes his home in Mazama, WA.

Emily Grady
Emily currently lives and works around Nelson BC, but her ski career taken her to New Zealand, South America, and across Canada. She is a Canadian level 3 instructor in both Alpine and Tele and has filled the role of instructor, ski school director, gear tester, as well as an avid backcountry skier. She is currently teaching and coaching around BC as well as working in program development for the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG).

Shelley Hakanson
Shelley grew up in Government Camp and skiing on Mt Hood. She started Wy'East Nordic in 1983, teaching cross country and telemark skiing on Mt Hood. Since 1983, she has run her nationally known summer tele camps at Timberline, and also becoming an examiner and Division Clinic Leader For PSIA NW Telemark.

Naheed Henderson
Naheed started skiing as a little girl growing up in Vermont, but it has been in the last ten years that she has dedicated herself to telemark skiing. She spends her winters coaching skiing camps and skiing at her home hill of Jackson Hole as well as ski guiding in the region. She also has traveled on numerous skiing expeditions around the world and last year skied off the summit of Denali.

Greg Hill
Greg is the preeminent ski mountaineer racer in Canada right now, winning the Whistler Randonee rally three years running. He has pioneered a 200 km ski traverse in the Northern Monashees and last year toured over a million vertical feet, with 37 10,000 foot plus days. Greg is a certified assistant ski guide and guides through out BC and Alberta.

Nils Larsen
Nils first tried to tele in 1977 - he completed his first successful turn in 1980. SInce then he has been an avid free heel and backcountry skier, teaching and skiing across the US and Canada. Nils has also produced three backcountry focused free heel videos and is currently working as a consultant for Karhu USA and on a documentary project on the roots of skiing in central asia.

Joel McBurney
Joel has been backcountry skiing for almost 20 years, the last 15 being based out of Nelson. He has been a certified guide since 2001, and is a professional member of the CAA. We also knows the Whitewater terrain well, having worked with the Whitewater patrol as a volunteer for three seasons. Joel loves the beauty and challenge of travelling the mountains in winter, and sharing that passion and experience with others.

Wren McElroy
Wren McElroy is a Professional Member of the Canadian Avalanche Association and started working in the avalanche industry 15 years ago. Wren got her start ski patrolling at Whitewater Ski Area and has taught avalanche and Occupational First Aid courses for over 10 years. Born and raised in the Nelson area Wren has a passion for these mountains that she loves to share. Her experiences range from sailing on a small boat across the pacific to climbing Mount Logan, Canada’s Highest Mountain. This year Wren has joined the CAA’’s Industry Training Program Instructor Team teaching on the Ski Operations Level 1 Avalanche Courses. Teaching all women’s groups is something that Wren started doing in the mid 90’’s.

Josh Mulligan
Josh is an ACMG winter guide and has guided in Canada for 9 years. He lives in Nelson and has been operating his own guiding service for 4 years. Josh’s business, Deep Lines, focuses primarily on ski touring and ski mountaineering, and he also teaches avalanche courses and is a professional member of CAA.

Joe Pavelich
Joe lives in Nelson and has been backcountry skiing for 20 years. His ski work started with the Whitewater Pro patrol and for the past 9 years he has focused on primarily ski guiding. Joe also works Avalanche forecasting and control work for the railways through Rogers Pass

Eric Pehota
Eric Pehota is considered one of the most accomplished adventure skiers in North America. He has many first ascents and descents around the world, including a solo descent of the NW face of Mt Waddington. Eric has been a member of the Whistler/Blackcomb Free-ride team for 6 years.

Karen Reader
Karen is a Level III Telemark instructor and has taught Tele, Alpine and Adaptive skiing for almost 15 years. She currently coaches the Freeride team at Red Mountain in Rossland and travels throughout the region and the US teaching ski clinics. Karen has earned top spots competing in the US National Telemark Freeskiing championships and is also a two-time champion of the infamous Al Johnson Uphill-Downhill Telemark race.

Mike Reese
Mike Reece grew up Telmarking Mad River Glen and Jay Peak Vermont and ski resorts in Quebec. He has been teaching Telemark since the late 1980's at the college level. Skiing took him to western Canada and Europe. He taught skiing in the Swiss Alps for 3 years after 6 years of skiing Whitewater, B.C, fighting forest fires, and pro patrolling at Lake Louise, Alberta in the early 90’s. He is a CANSI ski instructor who teachers Telemark for the University of Calgary Outdoor Center.He is a professional member of the CAA. He specializes in steeps, powder and bumps. He has appeared in print and T.V.media over the last 20 years and currently resides in Alberta.

Grant Satham
I am in Whistler and my recent resume is back in Banff on another computer, but basically:
- I am an ACMG Full Mountain Guide and have been since 1993. I have been a Professional Member of the Canadian Avalanche Association since 1991.
- I have taught professional training schools (Level 1,2, etc) for the CAA since 1994. I have done alot of work on curriculum development over the years.
- I guided full time for 17 years based from Canmore. I heli skied alot, ski toured, ice climbed, rock climbing, summer alpine climbing and spring/fall expedition climbing. My company name is Alpine Specialists, the website is a bit dated as I don't use it anymore, but check out www.alpinespecialists.com
- I worked in avalanche consulting for 8 years doing forestry and railroad forecasting work.
- I did several years of research and development work.
- I now work for Parks Canada and have for 5 years. I am the Avalanche Risk Specialist and my work now involves alot of R&D around avalanche forecasting techniques. I also help manage policy issues for our public safety (rescue) group in the Mountain Parks.
- I ski on alpine touring gear, married with a son (10), and have been a sponsored athlete with Arcteryx since 1997.

Nicolas Teichrob
Nicolas Teichrob currently resides in Roberts Creek, BC, although his time is spent chasing powder, trails, and surf around British Columbia. Inspired by unique angles and circumstances Nicolas is on a constant search for the perfect shot. A relative newcomer to action sports photography, his first season of dedicated shooting landed his images in many international magazines. While not taking photos, skiing, surfing, or biking, Nicolas is finishing up a Master’s of Science degree at the University of British Columbia where he studies the glaciers and streams on Blackcomb Mountain.

Shawn West
Shawn West. lives in the Slocan Valley near Nelson. He is an ACMG assistant guide and has been guiding in BC for the last 6 years, predominately cat and heliskiing, although skinning is his favourite way to get around the mountains in winter. He is a passionate snowboarder as well as skier, and enjoys spending time with other sliders in the winter backcountry.
