Kootenay Cold Smoke Opener

It all gets started here. The Cold Smoke Opener Film Night brings forth some great snow psych movies along with some great local brews from Nelson Brewing Company. The films come from all over the world. Below is a list of the night’s entertainment.

Capitol Theatre
421 Victoria Street
Nelson B.C.
250-352-6363
Doors open at 7:00pm

Mountain Town – The Grasshopper - Nick Devore tele skis with speed and poise. His calm grace is captured in Mountain Town: The Grasshopper, which portrays his way of life in another ski-crazy town—Aspen, Colorado.

Across The Atlas – A humerous take on a heros journey, an expedition to Morocco in search of the ultimate adventure. This team aims to ski North Africas highest peak, but many other misadventures waylay them along the way.

The Unbearable Lightness of Skiing – Experience a backcountry season in the Columbia Mountains. Follow Greg Hill and a few other Revelstoke locals as they skin, hike, bootpack canoe and straddle their way to remote summits.

Daily Strips – The Nissan Outdoor Games took place February 10-17, 2008, in Chamonix. The concept? Produce the best five-minute short film in five days that includes five extreme sports: skiing, snowboarding, speed riding, mountain climbing, and BASE jumping. Ride the Planets tried to produce the best images of the sports with the additional challenge of integrating a comic strip as the baseline of the script.

Let I Ride – The Craig Kelly Story - Director Jaques Russo’s "LET IT RIDE," is Craig's story. The adolescence of snowboarding saw Craig Kelly win more than 7 World Snowboard Championship titles, and million dollar contracts and the X-games soon followed. Craig did not follow. He gave it all up in order to dedicate his life to big mountain backcountry riding, and became the first accredited mountain guide on a snowboard.
