I ordered a medium. Fit is a tad generous. I have a 31 waist. Waist could be a little tighter. Overall it is not loose fitting, but it is not a compression type fit. Very soft and comfortable. This is the midweight, but it is rather light in weight. Like all smartwool gear, it is high quality.

used as baselayer for a week-long backcountry ski trip in canada. the boot-cut bottom helps eliminate the chafing sometimes encountered with the sock/lower bottom overlap. comfortable wool with excellent moisture management and odor friendly.
