Description:
When you're looking to do some tough climbing in soggy conditions, it's time to beef up your protection from the elements with the Alpha SL Jacket from ARCTERYX. Extremely light and technically advanced, 2-layer GORE-TEX PacLite keeps you dry and comfortable without bogging you down with weight; plus, when you don't need it, pack it down small - into its own pocket.

Features:

  • Heavy, cumbersome fabric is a thing of the past with GORE-TEX PacLite material that protects you from moisture no matter what
  • You won't get wet via the laminated front-zip - or any of the zippers for that matter; front, pit, and pocket zippers are all WaterTight
  • Keep extra little essentials dry in the laminated hand pockets
  • If you intend to climb, have no worries with the helmet-compatible Speed Hood
  • Don't get chilled because of moisture around your wrists, chin, and hemline thanks to the laminated chinguard, die-cut Velcro cuffs, and hem with drawcord and one hand pull cords
  • You won't be carrying around extra fabric at the seams, no more than 1.6 mm of fabric extends beyond the seams - saving you several ounces of weight in fabric

Specifications:

  • Weight: 10.8 ounces
  • Fabric: 2-layer GORE-TEX PacLite

Comments about Arcteryx Alpha SL Jacket - Women's:

If your looking for a great lightweight shell that is breathable, durable, and well made, look no further. This jacket seems expensive at first, but the quality you get makes it worth the price. The PacLite fabric feels great. The pit zips are excellent for extra ventilation when you get hot, the high placed pockets are great with a pack, and the lengh is a little longer than the Beta SL to offer more protection from the weather. Overall great product!

Comments about Arcteryx Alpha SL Jacket - Women's:

I've used the Beta Ar Jacket (20oz.) for several years and love it, but wanted a lighter weight jacket for my backcountry skiing, since most of the time the jacket is in my pack. I wanted gortex, for the waterproof breatheable, and am a diehard Arcteryx fan for my outer layer. I balked at the [$] for the Alpha LT (proshell gortex), and bought the Alpha SL(paclite gortex) as a compromise ($200 cheaper). At about the same weight, 10-11 oz., I went with the SL. I think the LT would be more durable and a few more amenities, but have overall been very happy with my Alpha SL. It packs Very light and small. It's been very comfortable to wear. The hood adjusts well. It's been quite durable so far. I have skied through trees without any adverse effects. Very waterproof. The only issue is the clammy feel next to the skin of the inner facbric of the paclite. This is not a big deal since I always have a long sleeve shirt on underneath. Defintely has been a worthwhile purchase for me and have used it as my outer layer every backcountry ski day since I purchased it and it has performed well. Not quite as fitted as my other Arcteryx jacket, but still very stylish looking.
