As soon as I put on this jacket I was blown away by its weight. It almost feels like you're wearing a long sleeve t-shirt. the arms are not restricted to move around and over your head. This jacket is great for 30-50 degree weather. The sides of this jacket have the fleece panels without insulation, it seems to work really well for keeping those areas cooler. If you are just standing around in this jacket in 30-40 degree weather those paneled areas get cold but for active hiking it works really well. This jacket is so thin it fits nicely under a rain shell. I use it with my Arcteryx Beta rain shell. The hood has insulation in it too and fits nicely under the rain shell hood. My only criticism is the neck area is loose and there is no way to cinch it up tighter but with a light scarf in really cold weather it works great even in rain and strong winds.

This jacket is all around amazing, one of my two favorite jackets, the other being the arc'teryx hercules. The atom is extremely lightweight, compresses down to nalgene size, and is amazingly warm. Hard to ask for much more, plus its stylish and you don't have to limit its use to the backcountry. I love how the powerstretch material is used on the side-panels, allows for more breathability when you're working hard. All in all, an amazing outerwear piece, and on extremely brutal days it is the perfect midlayer!

I use this for an outer layer while backcountry snowshoeing and it performs very well against the wind and snow. It also provides good warmth as an mid layer and alone I find it warm enough around camp(with underwear) when temps are just above freezing. It even does so when wet due to the synthetic material making it a great active jacket. The movement of this jacket is awesome and the longer back adds to the nice design. The reason I gave it four stars is due to the hood. With just a beanie underneath it flops over my face too much and gets annoying. I think added adjusting cords in the hood would have been worth the little extra weight. Also the blue color is pretty sweet. I keep adding things that I remember about this jacket so one more out of place comment. The sides of the jacket are a thinner more breathable material which definitely helps to breath while moving and when you aren't moving your arms cover that material pretty well so wind doesn't seem to rip through to much.

When I receive it I was expecting a jacket a bit heavier. I'm impressed by the way how this jacket is so light and at the same time so warm. I usually wear it for normal activities like going to school or going out for dinner, and its very comfortable. I'm gonna try to use it in December on Cotopaxi (Ecuador) to see how good it works on extreme conditions. I defenitely think that this jacket worths the price!!!

This is the perfect mid layer for keeping warm while on that long alpine route! I don't have to worry about it getting wet as it still keeps you warm.
