Comments about Arcteryx Blade 21 Backpack:

I've owned my Blade for going on six years and consider it by far the best computer pack I've ever owned (which includes Tumi, among many others). I use mine almost every day, and it still looks like new. It has a very sleek and clean design, without much in the way of frills, The computer partition is functional, but you do need to also use a protective sleeve (neoprene is the best). The Blade still looks acceptable in most office environments, since its build quality is so high. I can't imagine ever having to replace this bag, but if I did I would just get another one (or the Blade 15, which is even more customized for laptops).

Comments about Arcteryx Blade 21 Backpack:

I like this pack...a lot. I use it 4 days/week on my business traveling, and they are so comfortable. It doesn't look so "corporate", but oh well, my boss knows me well enough now. I keep my PC (My PC goes in BuiltNY sleeve before I put it in the pack...this pack doesn't seem providing enough support for PC, as the cargo room is too wide and PC will bunch around alot), some documents, GPS, solar charger for iphone. I found the top small pocket good place to keep my water bottle: Just make sure your water bottle is shut tight! My only complaint is lack of designated water bottle holders on the side, and lack of key chain keeper inside. Overall I like it!

Comments about Arcteryx Blade 21 Backpack:

Have been traveling to Asia for business 90+ days a year for over a decade and this pack goes on every trip (along with my 20" Victorinox roll-on). When traveling I carry a SLR with 2 lenses, a 13" laptop, noise canceling headphones, several iPods, portable hard drives, adapters, hat, and sunglasses. The laptop goes in a thin sleeve. The bag goes where-ever I go, restaurant or factory. It has also become my go-to camera bag when I am in the US or Asia. When out doing photography for the day, I carry an SLR body, 3 lenses, and flash, along with all the misc small stuff. I use Domke padded inserts to protect the camera gear. The bag has light padding on the bottom and , back, and side of the main compartment. The combination is great for camera gear or a laptop in a thin case. The best thing, it does not look like a camera bag, or a brief case. Other than a few scuff marks, it looks the same as when I bought it. The zippers and nylon have been bullet proof thus far.

Comments about Arcteryx Blade 21 Backpack:

The bag looks wider in the picture than in real life. And what you don't see are the plastic plate moldings lined all over the bag to help it keep it's shape, which makes the top, front zipper pocket almost useless. Having said all that, I still love the look and feel of the bag. [...]

Comments about Arcteryx Blade 21 Backpack:

I love the backpack. Awesome back support when you are walking at the airport. Love the feature that you can carry it on the side like a briefcase or use it as a backpack. The main compartment (the larger one for laptop) is awesome. Lots of padding for laptop.

However, the second compartment (the smaller one) is interesting in terms of you must know how to put your manila folders in. Somehow if you put it horizontally, it won't fit nicely. You have to put it on a 45-degree angle, and work your way in. Also, if they can add more side pockets for a bottle of water or something, that'd be great.

Otherwise, I am happy with the product.

Arcteryx kicks butt
By slafaVerified Buyer from Alpine UT. on 9/1/2008
Pros:
Good padding, Hybrid design works well
Cons:
Cleaner excess strap
Best Uses:
Commuting flight
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Arcteryx Blade 21 Backpack:

This pack is perfect for the daily grind and flights . I love the many pocket side access, eliminates digging for items and the side handle adds ease in handling. I had a Filson 258 which I thought would be great but it was a travel nightmare, I went to a Brenthaven sleeve type but there wasn't enough room for items other than my macbook, this pack looks good covering all my needs. it is not a day pack you will need an overnight bag for trips but for everyday this is awesome.

Comments about Arcteryx Blade 21 Backpack:

This is an awesome bag for anyone who doesn't need an SUV for a back-pack. If you need a bag to carry many school books and a large laptop this bag isn't for you. If you're a professional looking for a great, well designed and made functional briefcase that you wear on your back this is your baby. I went from a [$] Tumi briefcase with a shoulder strap to this one with a padded insert to protect my laptop and never looked back. I travel for business everyweek and the size of this bag forces me to stream line but I don't give up anything. My laptop isn't all that small but you may want to stay away if you have a 17" laptop.

Comments about Arcteryx Blade 21 Backpack:

This is supposed to be a daypack for one's laptop and related accessories. It is too small for the accessories one needs, and does not protect the computer.
