This is a superb piece of gear. It's meant for action- it breathes well, blocks wind and wet and is warm- but looks good enough that you can wear it around town with trousers and hard shoes.

This could easily be a centerpiece of your geardrobe, along with a shell and some quality baselayers. You'd been virtually bombproof.

Jacket is great. Pretty warm. It repels light rain fairly well and protects against the wind. It matches well with the ArcTeryx Gore-Tex shell I have to provide true rain protection. Overall, liked it.

This was one of my first Arc'teryx purchases. I bought one in large and recently lost a lot of weight. I like this jacket so much I had to buy another one in medium. I find the fit to be comfortable although I would prefer the jacket to be a little bit more trim at the waist. The medium fits me well and I'm 6 feet tall at 165 pounds.

First, this jacket is extremely warm. I wear this with my theta SV shell and find it to be a nice pairing. I never feel cold in the jacket. The hercules seems to know what the perfect temperature is most of the time and keeps you at a comfortable temperature. If you start getting really active on cool days (50 degree F) then you may find it to be too warm. I wore this all winter and didn't have any problems being cold here in Raleigh, NC. My wife and I wore this Hercules in Scotland in November and found it to be perfect. Again on the more mild days it was a little too warm with all the walking we were doing.

Durability is fairly good on the jacket. I did notice some pilling at the bottom of the jacket and I think it's from the seatbelt of my car. I can't be sure what was causing it but for the most part I haven't had any other issues with this jacket.

The jacket is ok in light rain but I recommend pairing it with a light shell if you're expecting wet weather.

The jacket is a little pricey although it's worth it. I'd highly recommend this to someone looking for a nice all around jacket. It's warm, light, and extremely breathable.

I've had this for a year now and it's pretty great jacket, reasonably windproof and water resistant and extremely lightweight. Great for winter weather with a light long-sleeve shirt underneath at most. I do wish the hand pockets were not mesh as it really cuts down on the wind resistance when they are in use. Also, the material can only handle so much snow or rain before it begins to absorb it -- though it does dry pretty quickly. Wind resistance is good, though the material will become cold to the touch pretty quickly in those conditions. Excellent quality though, despite made in China and Arcteryx is pretty hardcore about repairing any defects should they crop up.

Arc'teryx, hands down, is the BEST gear one can own. The Hercules jacket has to be the greatest,warmest, stylish, true fit "ish" jacket that I have ever owned. I have had it for a little over a year now. I were this ALL the time. I'll never have to buy another insulator again. Don't worry about the price. You always get what you pay for with Arc'terx products. Happy hiking.

I've had this jacket for only a few weeks now and it has become one of my favorites.
The fuzzy inside combined with the softshell outer makes this jacket remarkably cozy indoors as well as outside when faced with high winds, wet snow, and chillier temps. It has been used for some short hikes and around town and the only thing I have to complain about so far is the elastic at the cuff. I can slide the sleeves up to my forearms, but because of the elastic design it gets a little tight after awhile.
