Best of the ATC class belay devices

Pros:

Less rope stress, Quickest grab of any ATC

Best Uses:

Ice or rock, Outdoor climbing

Comments about Black Diamond ATC XP Belay Device:

I've used the BD XP belay device for a couple of years now and find it the best of the ATC class. It grabs the best and produces less rope stress while dissipating energy efficiently. Way to go BD.

ATC xp

good sport belay, Simple

Cons:

Bad for Repelling

Best Uses:

Indoor climbing

Comments about Black Diamond ATC XP Belay Device:

this is a great sport belay device however
when it comes to use in the real world of
climbing it lacks several of the most important uses such as a smoth repell.
