If you're looking to start climbing - buy a harness, buy some shoes, buy this package, and find an indoor climbing gym. It really is that simple. This is a great belay set up to start your adventures in rock climbing.

Should be part of your climbing essentials when being outdoors. It's not my #1 belay device, but it's always on my harness because it's light and versatile. And the package price is a good deal. You can never have enough good biners.

I bought this to belay for my daughter and we only do indoor climbing as she is only 6. Works great just like the equipment you can rent except I don't have to do that anymore.

wow, the biner feels like junk

everything works great. no problems there. it's just that the screwgate is thin and feels "cheap." i also have OP and Wildcountry locking biners. they feel more substantial. the bd screwes rough. i'm a little disappointed. i think i'll stick with the "cheap" brand for now on.
