Not sure what a "cosmetic 2nd" is for a carabiner. I can't see anything wrong with these. Light, with good finish and action - what more could you want?

Hotwires are my favorite carabiners for alpine/mountaineering. They are easy to use with gloves. The cosmetic seconds are a great deal, especially since after 1 day, all my gear truly becomes cosmetic seconds.

You really can not even notice that these are scratched at all!!! It felt like I was stealing these for the price. I love how easy they are to work with. A+ for the money!!!

Easiest carabiner to use in the cold while wearing gloves. Love the "wide mouth". Also, a great all around non-climbing tool. They're lightweight & work great for attaching gear to my multi-day backpacking trips, I also use them to secure weighted gear in video production.
