Comments about Five Ten Canyoneer 2 - Men's:

Buckles continue to be a problem, snagging ropes on every rappel. But I haven't seen one break...

Great shoes for canyoneering, including the approach hike.

Comments about Five Ten Canyoneer 2 - Men's:

My husband and I both have these shoes. He has had 2 pairs already because he loves them so much and wears them constantly. I will be ready for another pair next summer. Other friends of ours have bought on our advice and love them also. We wear them hiking and wet wading while fly fishing. We have done 6+ mile hikes in these shoes without much discomfort at all (considering your feet are wet). We put superfeet inserts in right on top of the insoles that came with these shoes. This may take care of the arch problem some people have reported. We have never had that problem. Take out the insoles after use to dry everything out. We wear them with socks and if the water is cold you can even wear them with thin socks and a thin pair of neoprene socks. The soles are super sticky so when in the river you have great footing as long as it's not mossy. They are great for rock hopping along the river too. The only flaw in this shoe is that the straps that you tuck the buckles into break easily. The trail fix for this was to use a pony tail holder around the buckle strap. Works great. Price is high but if you can afford them, they are worth it.

Good Ideas, Bad Implementation
By MtnSurf from Los Angeles, CA on 9/3/2008

Feels too wide
Pros:
Great Traction, Non-slip sole
Cons:
Toe box too large
Best Uses:
Canyoneering
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Five Ten Canyoneer 2 - Men's:

This shoe feels true to size, but since the toe box is so large, your feet aren't stable, even cinched down with the straps. They feel fine when rappelling, but any hiking soon becomes painful (blisters!), especially when the shoes are wet. Also, the hard plastic buckle seems vulnerable to breakage. I do like the neoprene ankle protection and support.

Comments about Five Ten Canyoneer 2 - Men's:

[...] I wore the Canyoneer II's on a 16 mile Zion Narrows hike which is about 65% in the river up to thigh high water, on none stop river rock. My feet had no problems. I just returned from hiking the Paria Canyon river (also a 16 mile hike). I used Keen's. I had to constantly remove them to wash away painful gravel. My feet were sore for 3 days! Wish I had taken the Canyoneer II's with me!

Comments about Five Ten Canyoneer 2 - Men's:

I purchased these shoes for Canyoneering however after wearing them around the house I decided that they would not work for a long canyoneering trip or even on the approach. Although the vibram soles are great on rocks, having no arch support could cause great discomfort to the feet on long trips. I cant even say these shoes are actually comfortable.
