i've used these pants for winter backpacking/hiking/mountaineering/and wearing over dress pants while commuting to work during a downpour. the good: waterproof/snowproof, lightweight and the ability to full zip from hip to ankle is very convienent without having to remove your boots/shoes. the bad: not breathable, gets very calmy with sweat buildup inside with the precip lining, zipper sometimes snags, tight fit around waist with poor adjustability on the velcro tabs on both sides of waist which seem to cut into the side of my gut and tend to loosen up as well, plus these are thin pants that don't provide warmth so a baselayer should be worn underneath for warmth in colder temps and felt the bumps and bruises to my azzz while using them for snowboarding and glissading down mountains...no rips/tears so far but, don't think the material will hold up over time...my 2 pesos.

This is a middle of the road water proof pant. it is water proof, but fabric does not breath as well as better quality gear. it is still worth the money if you need something to get you through your next trip and don't have the cash to buy the expensive stuff. Also a good buy if you are just getting started. You wont feel bad if you rip them either.
