Comments about Marmot Leadville Softshell - Men's:

Gets pretty wet in anything over a mist, COLD on a motorcycle around 50 degrees, and orange gets dirty often. More of a basic jacket than a soft shell.

Comments about Marmot Leadville Softshell - Men's:

I bought this jacket looking for a lightweight, windproof softshell to use for biking, hiking, and wearing around town -- kind of an everyday jacket. Reading the description, this sounded like the perfect jacket. Unfortunately, it didn't perform that well for me and ended up going back.

The big problem with this jacket is that there are large sections of "breatheable" material that cover the inside of the arms, the side of the torso, and the sides of the back. What the description doesn't mention is that these panels are not Windstopper and are not windproof and not water resistant. When the wind blows, it goes right into your arms and side of the chest. Biking to work in this jacket felt as if I was wearing a lightweight cycling jersey. In addition, any rain will quickly soak your arms, sides, and back.

So you have a Windstopper jacket that you can't wear in windy conditions and you can't wear in the rain. To be fair, it's probably a great jacket for very mild weather, but that defeats the purpose of a softshell.

As far as size goes, it seems to fit like a high-energy softshell should be cut (might be tight for some). The sleeves were a bit long, but that seems common for Marmot jackets.

The look of the jacket is nice, especially the green/grey color combination. The material does feel very soft and it seems like durability might be an issue.

Bottom line: okay for aerobic activities in mild conditions, but not a good softshell for wind or rain.

Comments about Marmot Leadville Softshell - Men's:

Just a great jacket to wear about town. It has such a soft feel and its so darn comfortable. I'll be wearing it more in the woods this fall so I may need another for casual wear around town. My only concern is the softshell may be too soft and get ripped by thorns, etc in the woods.

Comments about Marmot Leadville Softshell - Men's:

I bought a black Leadville softshell with the intention of wearing it around town as well as at the crag, and have been very pleased with it's performance in both situations. The black color looks great and fits in to a crowd a lot more than the brighter colors when in public, but might not be the best choice for intense outdoor activities. Color selection aside, the design of the jacket is still functional while also being passable as a "civilian" jacket. It is a little tight fitting for it's size, so don't expect to layer up too much under it — it has enough room for a thick fleece and some baselayer, but I wouldn't expect much more.

The WINDSTOPPER material is great — I've worn this while biking during cold weather, and it really works. I'd imagine that it would be a good jacket for a motorcycle rider as well, since it keeps out the wind but also breathes well enough for those hotter days. One thing worth noting is that the jacket is not WINDSTOPPER all of the way around, but on the outside edge of the sleeves and the front and back panels. This is good for ventilation, but isn't clearly stated in the product specs.

The Napoleon pocket is also nice for storing an iPhone or iPod and the headphone port keeps the contents nice and orderly. The jacket is water resistant enough for a surprise rain shower, but I wouldn't expect for it to do exceptionally well during a downpour (although I haven't tried!)

Overall, this is a great jacket and well worth the price as long as you purchase it with the right expectations.
