Good value. I bought several of these and they have all the right features for a basic shell jacket. Not too heavy, so you'll take it with you more often than a full on mountain shell. Good construction. Much better choice than an off brand. Functions well for hiking, climbing in non-terrible conditions. Great for summer season climbs on Pac NW mountains when you can still get quite cold and windy and damp conditions.

I purchased and XS size jacket for my daughter when she was 11. She's grown into the jacket and it's worked great for climbing trips to Kentucky and Utah. It's durable, lightweight and waterproof. Planning to buy the matching pants.

When the skies opened up...I was glad I bought the Marmot PreCip for my daughter & son. We were backpacking in the Red River Gorge of Kentucky when deluged by pouring rain. It would not let up. I wondered if my 14 year old daughter would lose heart, but she kept smiling - they both did. They stayed dry. It was worth every penny.

OK, so I bought this jacket slightly used, a very lucky find at a consignment store. It's one my favorite, and I'm a jacket snob, like some of my friends who buy too many shoes. This jacket has been on a lot of rainy hikes, over fleece or wool for winter hiking in snow, bungied on a kayak, and it even did some sea kayaking 101 submersion rescue pratices on a cool rainy summer night. It and I were drenched inside and out and I didn't get goosebumps, but I stayed at acomforable temp. I like that it's still rainproof after being drug all over including down to the Phantom Ranch for a winter rim to rim hike. I can't wait to wear it out so I get to buy a new one in a color of my choice next time.
