Description:
Wind-resistant and lightweight, the Ozone Jacket from Mountain Hardwear is constructed from Polartec Wind Pro fleece for breathable protection from wind and light weather. While its fleece material blocks the wind, you'll be safe from any drafts thanks to the Power Stretch cuffs and 1-handed drawcords at the hem and neckline.

Features:

  • Get solid wind protection with Polartec Wind Pro that's 4 times more wind resistant than traditional fleece and keeps you warm without bulky layers
  • Don't worry about a few drizzles - the water-repellent surface sheds snow and rain
  • Keep the warmth in and the cold out with 1-handed drawcords at the hem and neck
  • Stash your credit card or keys in the interior zip pocket while you warm your hands in the 2 zippered hand pockets
  • Seal out cold drafts with the Durable Power Stretch cuffs

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Ozone Jacket - Men's:

Great addition to the backcountry kit. I was looking for a technical fleece, which this definately is. Quite warm and the drawstrings aroung the bottom and also the collar keep out drafts. And at just over a pound, lightweight. MH trimmed the fat from this one. They aren't kidding when they say alpine cut. If your concerned if you're between sizes, go up.

I was somewhat hesistant because the Wind-Pro fleece is only wind-resistant, rather than wind proof. But this is basically a non factor. At 13,000 ft in barely above freezing conditions with a 30+ mph wind, I was quite comfortable when we were on the move wearing just this and a wool base layer. Had to throw on a down shell during breaks but that is to be expected.

My only real gripe is that the pockets are small enough to be largely unusable. Plan on utilizing em for a clif bar or your ipod, but not much else. Put your keys or wallet in em and it'll look like you have some sort of tumor.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Ozone Jacket - Men's:

Nice looking jacket with extra features (neck cinch, chest pocket, stretch cuffs) that my other WindPro jacket from Marmot doesn't have. Extra pockets help it work better as a stand alone piece when needed.

Will be using it for layering under a shell or by itself in milder weather for hiking. Jacket is lightweight with a little stretch but has an athletic cut.

The only negatives for me are:
1. Hand warmer pockets seem a little too high.
2. Torso length is a little short.

Most MHW products are a little short waisted for me but if your torso length is normal it shouldn't be a problem. Either way it's well worth the price.

Service & Delivery comments:

Outstanding service as usual.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Ozone Jacket - Men's:

I like the trim, tailored fit that results from construction from several "panels" -- not simply a few slabs of cloth stitched together.

Best Uses:

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Ozone Jacket - Men's:

I'm 5'11" 190lbs and ordered a medium based on the sizing chart on the mountain hardwear website, but upon delivery, I found the jacket to fit too snugly, although the medium outer shell I ordered fit just fine. So I'm exchanging for a large. I did like the loops on the sleeves and neck that allow you to snap into a tri-fecta system compatible shell.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Ozone Jacket - Men's:

This is going to be a short review. I got this jacket about a week ago and I really like it. I think it looks great and fits very well. It hasn't been too cold here yet but I can tell that this isn't the warmest fleece you can own. I haven't tested its durability either. Basically, I've had it for a week and have received many compliments, but this is not the jacket for extreme cold weather.

Overcoat
By SharkyVerified Reviewer from Hobart, Tas. on 5/6/2006
Cons:
Bulky, Poor Fit
Best Uses:
Casual Wear

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Ozone Jacket - Men's:

This was described as a trim alpine cut, but mine was very bulky and baggy with poor shoulder articulation. It appears to have been designed as an outer layer, rather than a mid layer. I have not found mine suitable for backcountry use, and it has been relegated to overcoat duties.
