I picked this as a base layer so i could keep my hands and head warm while belaying in the colder fall months. It has the advantage of a hood that fits under a helmet (skiing or climbing) and thumbies to keep palms warm. My problem with it is that it's too boxy and not long enough to get tucked in (drafty) or fit down under my harness. I am long waisted, so this can be an issue.

I work above the Arctic Circle in the Alaskan tundra and bought this hoody to wear under my coveralls for work. I did the "Pepsi Challenge" and wore a regular cotton (is rotten) hoody and then this hoody. I really noticed the windproofness of this hoody and I love it!! It's not bulky for work and can be worn as a base or over a thin base layer.
One improvement would be the zipper--if they used the material on the top so the zipper wouldn't hit your neck, it would make it better.
It's a great product for the price! I recommend it.

This hoody is casual warmth and comfort. the warm inner fabric does tend to "grab" at your under layer if it is anything other than a slick type under layer - only when you are pulling it on. once in place you are ready to go.
