I reach for this hat all the time in any type of precip. The hat fits is long so my hair balls up nicely under it and stays dry. It is too warm within 15 minutes of running 3 9-minute miles and by the end, my roots are soaked with sweat. Still, during the Blizzard of 2009, only this hat (and a windproof earband) kept the blowing and falling snow from my eyes while keeping my head completely dry and warm enough (it was 26 degrees with wind chills at 16). I love how this hat performs enough to buy more OR products.

Fit Incorrect, Construction fine

I ordered a L/XL and the hat barely fits (almost a tad too tight) at it's largest adjustable level (my head size is not very large). Someone did not measure the adjustable elastic correctly nor the perimeter of the hat. I can only hope it stretches a bit over time.

I have used this hat day and night since the day it was delivered.It has been very cold in New York these past few days and i have worn it without any problems. Havent had any bad rain storms yet, but i'm sure it will hold up fine with the goretex lining.

I got a big head, 7 and 3/4 and the "cool" and useful hats I see just never seem to fit or sit on my head comfortably. Being hair challenged and wearing cropped close, I also need protection....and living in SE Alaska where the rain is....well, lots of it, this is a functional baseball style hat for me. I have owned the Marmot Precip Hat....I found this OR one far superior in fit and comfort.
