Comments about Petzl Sarken Crampons:

Just bought these cramps in time to do some ice climbing with our favorite guide in NH. Wanted an all around crampon to ice climb and use for mountaineering. Since we live in Florida we have only a few chances to do snow activities. Therefore, I was looking for one crampon that would do it all for a reasonable price.
Sarkins performed well on all the multi pitched and vertical routes. They were stable and secure, especially on the soft and new ice. Only minor drawback was a little extra effort was needed to sink the double pionts on the hard ice, but once in were solid. The double points are a little harder to get into those small ledges and pick holes than a single point crampon, but not a real big deal. Going to use them on Mt. Baker this summer.

Versatile and sticky
By SoloistVerified Reviewer from Lake Tahoe / Eastside on 11/7/2006
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Pros:
Easy To Put On And Adjust, Great Grip, Lightweight, Versatile
Cons:
Rubber anti-bots clips
Best Uses:
Alpine Routes, Mixed Routes, Vertical Ice

Comments about Petzl Sarken Crampons:

Excellent front pointing performance
Very sticky, work well in soft and hard ice
Good on low angle / horizontal / glacial
Good performance for their weight
Available with tele bails - a plus
Rubber anti-bots a pain in the butt, I see that they have plastic now... again...
Compete well against Grivel G-14's - only drawback is points are non-replaceable, but lots of point material available to repeatedly sharpen
Used them all winter in the Sierra's, on Rainier this spring, and gullies this fall.
Fit very well on both my plastic Asolo's and Salomon Pro-Ice's

Great technicial mountaineering crampon.
By CliffswallowVerified Reviewer from Bellingham, WA on 10/30/2006
Pros:
Great Grip, Versatile
Best Uses:
Alpine Routes, Mixed Routes, Vertical Ice

Comments about Petzl Sarken Crampons:

I first used these last spring on Mt. Sefrit, a climb which ended up involving everything from slushy snow, steep glacial ice, and a couple short water ice pitches. The Sarkens performed awesomely the entire climb, and on many mountians since.
