Comments about Smartwool Mountaineer Socks:

The Mountaineer is warm, soft and a cushioned sock, but the lack of good elastic makes it a bit droopy. I had to keep pulling them up!

Comments about Smartwool Mountaineer Socks:

Outstanding winter / expedition mountaineering socks. Smartwool warmth with durability and breathable. Only downside is if your boots are fitted for thinner socks, these will be too bulky and cut off circulation.

Comments about Smartwool Mountaineer Socks:

Great socks. I use them on everything from glacier slogs to ice to snowshoeing trips. With a liner sock, they are awesome. I can wear these with a pair of lightweight mountaineering boots and be fine on a Rainier slog. Very warm, awesome fit.

Great sock, but lacked warmth at times
By SkipVerified Buyer from Mobile, AL on 11/13/2006
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Pros:
Breathable, Durable, Lightweight
Cons:
Wears Easily
Best Uses:
Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Travel

Comments about Smartwool Mountaineer Socks:

I wear silk liner socks and was surprised that my feet were not toasty warm all the time. I found that at times, my feet were not cold, but not warm in ice and snow conditions on Orizaba. I will continue to use these socks since I do like their wear and comfort. However, I will take thick wool ones, just in case.

By PaulVerified Buyer from Chicago,IL on 1/25/2006
Pros:
Durable, Exceeds Expectations, Good Value, High Quality

Comments about Smartwool Mountaineer Socks:

I have been wearing the socks for outdoor hiking in the Rockies and footwarming in a suburban living room for years. They breathe during high exertion and keep feet warrm under all conditions. Not too tight so they work really well with liners in extreme weather. [...]
