button problems and EATS batteries

This is a really stylish looking watch that goes well out in the elements or in a more formal setting.

Like nearly all alti/baro watches it's a bit bulky but I quickly got over that. Given it's size it's easy to scrape up if you leave it on while being active. It was fairly easy to learn the functions and navigate the menus, like other SUUNTO devices.

However, I found that the main function button tended to get stuck and become unresponsive. This is very frustrating and apparently shows up somewhat often (see Amazon reviews of this watch).

Also it's been going through a battery about once a month. The battery is user-replaceable and of standard make but I'm not sure how well the battery compartment will stand up to repeated opening and closing.

A Great Investment

I used it while on a 100 mile hike through the New Mexico at Philmont Scout Ranch. The watch was so accurate, I even predicted a couple thunderstorms. [...]. This watch is a must buy. The only downside is that it is a relativly large watch, but I think that is cool.

For someone who does short alpine climbs I find the core just right: altimeter,barometer,thermometer give me all the data I need. The alarm clock function wakes me up on time. The backlight is just enough and keeps it fuctional at night. It is easy to toggle and intuitively figure out how to change settings without reading the owner's manual!

I bought this watch knowing it was large so for people that complain it is bulky...READ THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE WATCH! It is easy to read, very comfortable (and I have a small wrist), and seems very accurate. I work in Aviation so each element of the watch is scrutinized. So far it is accurate.
