Comments aboutSuunto USA Vector Watch:
THis is the second one I bought. The first did not stay water proof, the case cracked and face scratched easily. However it is the best watch with all its options for the money. Be careful of the black face, it is more difficult to read in many conditions. Also, the back light on these watches are poor on either face (normal or black).

Comments aboutSuunto USA Vector Watch:
Obviously good feature-wise, I keep coming back to it. But my last Vector only lasted 18 months before moisture got to it in a rainy camping trip and killed it off. The first two lasted somewhat longer, but eventually died the same way.

a reliable tool
By JE from Seattle on 2/18/2007
Comments aboutSuunto USA Vector Watch:
I've owned this watch for a few years, using it quite a bit in the Tetons and in Idaho mtns, so often to 12000'. Having an altimeter has saved my butt on more than 1 occasion in whiteout conditions on the NW volcanoes. This one is spot-on accurate. Negatives: relatively bulky - therefore I have to put it in my pack when climbing alpine rock (to jam cracks). Also eats up the battery in short order, despite being careful to not leave it in altitude mode (I switch it back to time mode). Seems it needs a new battery every 3-4 months. Perhaps that is just the nature of the beast.

Great watch and rather stylish
By MAD in Iraq from Iraq on 12/30/2006
Pros:
Accurate, Good night visibility, Shock proof, Waterproof
Cons:
No cons at this point
Best Uses:
Backcountry, Patrolling
Comments aboutSuunto USA Vector Watch:
Easy to use. Even has a quick reference card inside the instruction manual. Once you read the manual and study the reference card, you can do everything with this watch. Already put it to the test with hiking in Iraq. Great in cold weather when I visit wife and kid in the United Kingdom.

A product worth purchasing
By Engaged to a Gear Head from Hattiesburg, Mississippi on 1/24/2006
Pros:
like a swiss army watch, Tough
Cons:
Bulky
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking, navigation/plotting courses
Comments aboutSuunto USA Vector Watch:
I purchased this watch for my fiance for Christmas. He adores it! He wore it everywhere for a full week. His main reason for wanting it is that he is an avid adventure racer. He is required to plot courses on a map and navigate his way through tough terrain so the special features like the altimeter really give him an advantage. The Suunto Vector is his new best friend.
