I work in Construction and out in the elements all day . Wind mixed with cold temps is what this jacket is made for . very comfortable in working situations as well as casual . I love this Jacket .

I have 2 of these. Grey and Black. This is my favorite jacket to wear. I use it as a main jacket in cool weather and a base layer in cold weather. The monkey thumbs keep the sleeves in place with or without gloves and is great for biking/scooter/motorcycle. very tall collar! If I only has 1 wish it would be that it was windproof.

I am not likely to take this shell into the field since it is not really versatile enough. IMO "soft shells" serve a useful purpose especially for day use, but other combinations of outerwear are better suited to backpacking, climbing and expedition use. This jacket looks and fits great and is comfortable to about 45-50 degrees. Great for traveling but it is bulky in a daypack and a bit stiff.

If you have one jacket, this should be it. Build your outdoor system around it.

The jacket is bomb proof and water proof. It's breathable, but completely wind resistant. As a result, it's thinner than any fleece, but warmer than any goretex or other waterproof shell. Skiing, hiking or around town, it's my goto jacket.

I spend 7 years in the infantry and regret not having had THIS jacket with me.
