Comments about The North Face Ultra 104 GTX XCR - Women's:

I wanted to love these shoes. And I did, for about 30 daily runs. Then, they began to not only smell really awful, the midsole cushioning seemed to soften...a lot. Odd looking and did very little to enhance my size 10 feet and are more cross trainer looking than true trail runner. I can attest to the waterproofing as a liberal stream crosser, high, wet grass goer, and mud slung path follower. But, when the lining is gore-tex, it usually means that the shoe takes on a certain amount of H2O, making your legs feel a bit heavy. What these shoes do very well is stay upright on mostly every surface and through every kind of terrain. Rocks, roots, dense weeds, logs, streams, these were my choice on rainy, snowy, muddy and wet short (under 30 minutes)runs. They feel like the humvee of trail shoes and seem indestructable, but admittedly, I have only logged about 100 miles in them, vs. the 300 or so most of my other gore-tex trail shoes take me on. They're solid, comfortable, and decent, just not amazing. They make a great dog walking option now.

Comments about The North Face Ultra 104 GTX XCR - Women's:

Great shoe for casual to just beyond casual applications. Haven't put it to much trail use, but would assume it would perform well. Ideal shoe for folfing, short day hikes, and for extra traction on inclement weather days.
