First off, every notation in the product description and product features are true to fact and superbly passed the field test with me. With 25 years of consistent snowshoeing experiences, and having tried four different brands of snowshoes: Redfeather, Atlas, MSR, and Yuba, I have found the most superior snowshoe that delivers the best stability, traction, comfort, and ease of use.

The form-fitting toe box securely locks the toe part of your boot in conjunction with a firm fitting and easy-to-adjust heel strap. The over-the-lace strap cinches easily and all straps release easily and do not ice-up since they have a plastic buckle and are a rubberized material.

Typically, I ascend uneven terrain with 20-40 degree steepness, and encounter varying snow conditions of deep powder, hard-pack, and crusty ice. The aggressive and sharp cleats and toe crampons give maximum traction in all conditions.

The heel lift is easily raised to a secured locked position with one hand. To lower the heel lift, you can use your hiking pole and snap it down without having to even bend down and use your hand. This snowshoe is the best shedder of heavy, wet, sticky snow. There is little build up on the special plastic decking and underdecking.

Another outstanding feature rarely found on other snowshoes is the toe pivot hinges that move easily and keep your foot from moving laterally when traversing steep slopes. Additionally, the side cleats are long and sharp affording a secure hold while traversing steep slopes. They also function to grip well when directly ascending steep terrain. Slip is minimal due to the cleat's wavy design.

My only criticism of this snowshoe is that the FLEX Tail does not flex enough on steep descents to lessen knee joint stress to my liking, but the tail does flex somewhat to give a slight degree of easing knee joint stress.

How well and how long these snowshoes will last with the severe punishment I inflict on them will be answered some time in the future. But, for their modest price, I highly recommend these as the best style of snowshoes for the serious snowshoer.
