The only more smoothly running ATC I've used is a nice, old, thoroughly used BD ATC that had the same kind of teeth on it as this one. That one had been broken in and ran really nicely, but this one is fantastic right out of the box. It doesn't pinch the rope too hard, doesn't take a huge tug to break it loose after a fall, and it feeds nicely.

Much safer belay device

Much safer device for belaying, but especially lead belaying... Very lightweight, still extremely durable & trustworthy... best bang for your buck, easily.
