It's about time
By DrewVerified Buyer from Michigan on 11/9/2007
Pros:
Versatile
Best Uses:
Tree stand
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational

Comments about Yates Gear, Inc Adjustable Daisy Strap:

I can't believe how much more the hunting industry charges for safety equipment. The adjustable daisy is excellent for tree stand use when hunting. I wish I could have gotten a more subdued color though. I think my hunting buddy wants to start climbing now.

Can be snapped in a short fall
By royVerified Reviewer from Santa Barbara, CA on 9/6/2007
Pros:
Adjustable
Cons:
Harder to extend
Best Uses:
Wall climbs
Describe Yourself:
Alpine, Casual/ Recreational, Ice, Rock, Walls
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Yates Gear, Inc Adjustable Daisy Strap:

The strap and buckle look very strong (and are rated to 1500 lbs) but this may be misleading. I snapped mine in a short fall (2 feet of slack in the daisy) while aiding. The aggressively toothed buckle cut the strap and I didn't even feel it on the way down. In retrospect this is probably a good thing; the impact force from a static fall of 2 feet can do a lot of kidney damage. The Metolius is only rated to 300 lbs and probably would also have snapped. The bottom line is that adjustable daisies should never be your only connection to the wall.

The Metolius is easier to operate with one hand and would be my recommendation.

Comments about Yates Gear, Inc Adjustable Daisy Strap:

I like the adjustability of this device and use it when cleaning gear at the top or belaying on multipitch climbs. It seems to be well constructed and robust. My only complaint is that sometimes the webbing gets twisted and jammed in the buckle and you have to futz around fixing it so you can adjust the length. The older version had a nice big loop of webbing that could be girth hitched to your harness, now it is only large enough to fit a carabineer. I liked the old design a bit better. Overall, it is still an essential part of my gear and I will likely grab another for my wife.

Works great, fairly heavy
By sassafrasVerified Buyer from san diego, ca on 1/22/2007

Comments about Yates Gear, Inc Adjustable Daisy Strap:

Seems strong, quickly adjustable. The "buckle" is fairly overbuilt though. It's a system somewhat like an ascender, where there is a pivoting spring loaded plate with barbs that locks down the webbing. I would rather have seen a two-plate buckle of some sort (like Petzyl uses in their harnesses or most motorcycle helmets use) to save weight.
