I was 71 years old when I bought this device and used it to hoist my 68 lb Old Town Predator 14' kayak in my garage for the Winter. No problems, my only wish would be for the straps to support the kayak that go on the hooks. I adapted some for not much money.

I first purchased this item to hang kayaks. I liked it so much that I purchased 2 more to hang bikes and a wheel barrow in my garage. The only thing I don't like about is the rope that comes with it is cheap and will need replacing after a couple of years. This system has allowed me to free up a lot of space in my garage

Installed the device easily in my garage several years ago and has been problem free ever since. Great success. I like the double line which give you the option of raising evenly and lowering any way you like, bow first, stern first or whatever. Locking mechanism is great.

Rope is too thin to hoist my kayak (50lbs) without hurting my hands, rope travel through mechanism is very coarse and I had to rig a complex mechanism to mount it to my ceiling to keep it from pulling out when I lift!

Not good for canoe/kayak

Doesn't work well for my Kayak - designed to pull the rope straight down from the pulleys - happens to be right where your kayak/canoe is located, so getting it high up is a pain.
