Comments about Black Diamond Winter Bivy:

I used this bivy on a thru-hike of the Tahoe Rim Trail. It didn't rain, but my down bag never got wet from condensation. In dry weather this is a great ultralight shelter.

Comments about Black Diamond Winter Bivy:

I used this bag in the Lake Tahoe area on a perfectly clear night with temps in the 20's. Unfortunately, my sleeping bag got wet from frost and condensation. It makes me wonder why this bag is called a "winter" bivy when it can't even handle a mild night. Definately not worth the money.

Comments about Black Diamond Winter Bivy:

The first trip involved incredible swings in temp and weather typical of North Carolina mountains. First day starkly sunny and dry, overnight dropping temps into the teens and driving snow by morning. There was much interior condensation that drenched my down bag.

Winter Bivy
By MadhattanVerified Buyer from New York on 1/27/2006
Pros:
Compact, Insanely Lightweight
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Winter nights out

Comments about Black Diamond Winter Bivy:

This is the perfect bivy for winter overnights. Good protection from snow and wind. Lightweight, dries fast.

Used in open air, cold night, it snowed a few inches but my down bag stayed perfectly dry. Frost and snow brushed right off.

On short trips, I'll be skipping the tent from now on.
