Too much boot for me. I live in Upper Peninsula of Michigan and this boot seemed more suitable for mountainous regions. I thought it was great quality but the ankle support was over the top for a flat-lander. Traction was superb! I was sad to return them but I just couldn't make the commitment breaking in such a technical and stiff boot. I found it difficult to decide if true to fit, since they really require some serious breaking in (even to lace properly).

sturdy, but narrow

these are a great stiff boot for a secure footing, but the footbed is actually to me, too stiff inside, and the center of the boot by the arch is very narrow, and shallow. so although the toe box had room, they created pressure enough to cramp the top and sides of the foot. if your a narrow foot, these would probally be perfect for you. but my duck feet were not so happy. i also wish the were waterproof and not just water resistant.

i got the boots for my wife she love them. to bad montrails not making leather mountaineering boots. which i think is stupid. everybody is going lightweight. Boots are the worst thing to go light. especially here in the cacades. the boots comming out lately are ugly. from some of the pictures i see in some of the boots they will not last long. when my montrais where out i hope i can find a pair of leathers that look as good or is as comfy. i
