I've used both the BD Mega-mid and the Mega-Light shelters for some time and they are indispensable for winter use, especially with groups. However, I haven't used mine much in warmer weather, since all those pesky little critters seem to want to be inside the tent with me at night. Frankly, a pack of wolves would be more welcome than a single mosquito, where I'm concerned! At any rate, both my BD Mega-light shelter and the Mega Bug shelter stuff smaller than my 30 degree sleeping bag and weigh only three-something pounds combined, if you leave the included tent poles at home and use your trekking poles to support the shelters. Even though you have to stake it out, it doesn't take much time to get it pitched and voila: bug-free paradise! If you've never been inside a "Mid", there is an incredible amount of space inside. My 5-foot spouse can actually stand up inside the shelter. The floor is still heavy-duty enough to bring in fido, but I wouldn't let a couple of cats in there(This actually happened to me! Long story-yawn)Bottom line...If you hate skeeters, but still want to carry as little weight as possible: Buy the Mega Bug and a Black Diamond 'Mid. You'll be VERY popular guy, if everyone else just brought their biv sacks!
