Comments about Trango MaxCam:

I have been using these Cams for several years. I have a wide variety of CAMs including Camelots. By far these are my favorites. They have a wide range and are rock solid on placement. I have had falls on these and they have stood strong each time. I would recommend these to anyone that is looking to purchase CAMs. The only downside is that they do not cover all the ranges that you need. I use my camelots for the other ranges. I have old and new camelots. They are rugged, last forever, and can always be counted on with proper placement.

Comments about Trango MaxCam:

The smaller cams work fine, but i've had them shift after placing them a couple times before. Since the camming units are not equal when you pull them in they can rotate on the smaller side and become wegged in the crack kinda like a stopper that is really hard to get out. I also have the BD C-4s, and since their camming heads are equal when you pull them in, they don't shift like the trangos do. The bigger MaxCams just feel weird. when you pull them in the whole head saggs. it just feels kinda sloppy. Go to a store and feel the pull on them compared to the BD C4s before you order them, and you'll see what i mean.

A great cam. Gave it a good try out as soon as I got it. Just seemed 'right' for all the cracks - I found myself reaching for it again and again.

Comments about Trango MaxCam:

Alright, Payday! But what piece of gear to buy? Wwen it comes to cams, the answer for everyone in scotland is simple; Black Diamond Camalots every time. Their stable structure and huge range put them miles ahead of any other cam.Fade into christmas, people are jolly, wrapping paper and tinsle is lieing everywhere, people are digging through gifts at 100mph. As usual, the big boys get opened first (yay for me, a new dressing gown)but then I came to a smaller, oddly shaped package. The notion that it may contain a cam didn't even enter my mind; My family have enough knowladge of gear the the know they havn't got a clue as to what to get me.As the stiff gold paper peeled away, I actually had to double take:omg it's a cam, but dammit it's not BD! followed swiftly by [...] is up with those axels???It was quickly ridded of it's plastic wrapper, and I cranked down on the trigger. From first touch this baby was perfect, the action rode down the stem like an opiled pig on fire. Then I saw it, the bizzare axles... the folding in on itself. Without explaination to the bystandeers I raced to my room, grabbed the nearest camalot, and compared.holy [...], it's got a better range than the camalot!I ran back downstairs, and looked at the package.Trango Max Cam.Whoah! I had heard of these near mythical beasts from over the pond a few times, but had always figured they would be over engineered, heavy, and unstable. Not to mention the fact that they will obviously fall apart in no time. How wrong I was. This puppie is mega stable, and although you can't do the old "grab it by the stem and cram it in" ploy, when you her in and give 'er a tug, she bites as hard as any.I don't know about the other sizes, but the size 2 is ultra-stable and doesn't walk easily. I aint whipped onto it yet, but it has easily held my body weight, even in semi-sketchy placements. The final verdict: On the rack, front loop, every time. Ace piece of kit.
