Every Tuesday 6:00 pm Discover Rock Climbing $20
Everything you need to harness up, tie in and belay with confidence. This class is for those who wish to get into climbing, as well as for parents wishing to get their young ones climbing safely.
Saturday 4/12 Noon - 4 pm Outdoor Gear Swap Free
This event will sponsor both vendor and personal items for sale. Stop by and rummage through new and used gear – something for everyone. The swap will be at the New Community Warehouse Space at 18 west Main.
Saturday 4/12 7:30 pm National Paddling Film Festival $8-10
For 25 years, the NPFF has convened a competition to find and celebrate the best in whitewater paddle sport videos and images. Come down to the Magic Lantern and enjoy an evening of entertaining and enlightening films while supporting the Spokane River Project.
Thursday 4/17 6:00 pm Backpacking Class Free
Learn all there is to learn about backpacking without actually putting one on. This class will cover all the basics from socks and shoes to tents and water filters. Bring your questions and plan on participating in this interactive event.
Saturday 4/19 10 am - 5 pm Spokane River Spring Kickoff Free
Grab your boat and paddle and do not forget your nose plugs as you join some of Spokane’s best whitewater paddlers at Corbin Park. Demos, instruction and food will all be served up with a friendly smile.
Sunday 4/20 Various start times Spokane River Run $23 and up
Spokane River Run is a great way to kick off your spring/summer calendar. The trails are spectacular and the courses fun. This event attracts runners from all over and, proceeds go to benefit the APPLE program at Garfield Elementary. Start times: 50k 8:15 am; 25k 8:45 am; 5k 9:10 am; and 10k 9:45 am. Thursday 4/24 6:00 pm Basic Camping First Aid Free
No certifications, no extraordinary fees – just some basic facts about you, camping and the 1st aid you might need to make your visit to the outdoors more enjoyable. Taught by an EMT – this class will put 1st aid in the backcountry into perspective.

HydroTherapy Sessions are FREE, grassroots, learning events for kayakers of all skill levels and ages. Structured exactly like a competition, this instructional series will be judged by Jud Keiser or an alternate. Prizes are awarded to all competitors who show up for this FREE event. Class covers boat types, basic and some advanced strokes, appropriate clothing combinations, safety for self and others, gear including paddles, dry storage and rigging. Class will also discuss currents and wind..
Sunday 5/18 1 - 5 pm Tour Kayaking Class $50
Tour lakes, coastlines and islands with a complete set of boat-handling skills. Class covers: personal and safety gear, kayak design, getting in and out of your boat, paddles and strokes, bracing, stopping and sweeps, wet exit, self and tandem rescue. After this class, you’re ready for the San Juans!
