Ah, the beautiful naked female form climbing -- it's sweet.
Great calendar, but the construction is not so good. I've placed it on my frig at home and it has already torn. Not good.
However, the pictures are excellent.
I'm on my third year of StoneNudes and I have to say that the photography in the 2008 Calendar is not the same quality as previous years.
The overall composition, perspective, use of shadows and the action captured lack the grace & uniqueness of previous year's works. There has always been a synergism to their shots, not this time.
Put very simply, the pics aren't great this year.
Given that one month is listed as 2007 - an obvious typo - it makes me wonder if 2008 was a rushed effort.
In response to [...] comment and the other about "crotchy-ness": I can see only 2-3 pics that might fit this description, but remember that all these photos are a balance of nude figure composition and sports photography capturing athletes in motion. I'd guess the crotchy aspect was an unintended consequence of this year's pics being more focused towards the athletic side, rather than being more posed (with the single exception of the one sitting at the top of the waterfall). From a climber's viewpoint, you spend a lot of time looking up at your partner's crotch! (which is why I'm not allowed to wear Spandex any more ;-) Beautiful as always, and different each year. If you're concerned about audience suitability, you can preview all the photos [@]. I agree that including men would help diffuse some of the criticism; they did a male version only one year I think - the women should bombard them with requests for another!
I have gotten this for the last 5 years and every year there is something new and amazing in the photos.
i'll say upfront that i do have some training in nude figure drawing and photography, and am a little bit on the conservative side in terms of sexuality.
that said, i was disappointed in this calendar. as mentioned by another reviewer: this year's calendar seems to be a little 'crotchy' for my liking. i feel like a true artistic expression of human form - especially climbers - would include both males and females. perhaps a balance of men and women and a stronger focus on a particular artistic goal would detract from the awkwardness that a few reviewers had mentioned.
in terms of the concept of the calendar, i would like to see more emphasis on form and the contrast between the soft, the fluid, the smooth, and the mobile as attributes of the human form against the concept of the rough steadfastness of rock.
i would not feel comfortable giving this calendar as a gift or having it on the wall when relatives come to visit. june, however, i do find exceptionally beautiful as an expression of form and light and would proudly have on display.
Makes for great wall decoration and always draws attention of guests.
Delivery and service have always been easy and prompt with Mountain Gear!
My boyfriend is a rock climbing master and he absolutely loves this calendar. He's deploying to Afghanistan in a few months so I know he'll really appreciate viewing strong athletic women while he's gone. It would be nice to have a smaller more portable sized one for him to take.
I've bought this calendar for the past few years for my husband. I've always thought they were very tasteful. This years.....2008 is just a bit too "crotchy" for me. I don't have a major problem with that, except I gave it to my brother-in-law without really looking at the pictures. The day after Christmas, when I looked through my husband's calendar, I felt a bit awkward.
Great calendar. Lacks holidays though. Would be nice to see a male version as well.
Beautiful, artistic images for lovers of the outdoors and the female form. Makes a great gift as well.
I have bought this calendar the last few years for my boyfriend and he loves it. The women are tasteful and arty instead of lewd and the scenery is fantastic. I would recommend this for any adult home.
Extremely beautiful photography. The perfect calendar for anyone who enjoys both natural and feminine beauty.
I first received this calendar as a gift in 2000. I've bought several every year since then and give them away as gifts to friends. Even my mother a sculptor who saw it and loved it gets one. The photographer has a great sense of form and depth; the models seem to naturally fit with the scenery.
The calendar has beautiful pictues with imaginative camera angles and both the women and the settings are great to see.
I love the contrast in these classic black and white, high-grade photos. The subjects are wonderfully expressive of the human experience and form on natural ground. Graceful and ideal as the models are, they are obviously highly dependent on the features upon which they cavort, as are each and every one of us jealous voyeurs!
this is the third year I've been using this Calender, I love climbing and the outdoors. This Calender is very tasteful. I tihnk it is a wonderful mix of the beauty nature has to offer.
[...] The Stone nudes calendar is the usual superior quality.
Excellent
Hello Fellow Shoppers.
I recently bought the 2007 Stone Nudes Calendar with the women climbers, but I almost didn't do so b/c some folks said they were repeat pictures. I am perplexed by this b/c I have the women stone nude calendars from 2003, and there were no repeat pictures since that time. They are all hanging on my wall now, and no, my wife doesn't mind.
I recommend this calendar. It has nice pictures, and it is typical of the previous Stone Nudes calendars. It is a basic calendar, however, in that there is no mention of holidays or moon phases. Oh well.
If you like artistic, nude female climbers, then this calendar is for you.
Artfully done images with gorgeous Mountain Scenes and models. I think the best StoneNudes Calendar yet.
Very nice art for those who like to rock climb. Artsy and very well done.
Tastefully done. Would recommend to anyone who likes rock climbing and the female form.
Very tastefully done !!!
I've been following Fidelman's work for a few years now, and no one captures the essence of fragile flesh on rugged stone as well as he does. These women (and, in some cases, men) over the years are climbing in the purest sense: moving well beyond a "one with nature" phtographic cliche to an artful presentation of flourishing humans fully revealed in nature.
I look forward to hanging my new Stone Nudes calemdar every year and enjoying throughout the year.

If you haven't seen previous years' calendars, 2006 is a great compendium of the best images from the past, contrasting light and shadow, nude bodies and naked rock. However,I was very disappointed to see that this years' calendar was merely a repeat of previous photos. I would not have purchased this item if I knew I'd be looking at the same photos that I've bought over the last 7 years.

The nude calendar was tastefully done and delightful to look at. My husband was pleased with this Christmas present.
