Im somewhere between an avid and casual climber and Ive had these shoes for 4 years now and they are just now starting to where through in the toe. They have done well for me indoors and sufficed outdoors. They are extremely comfortable and fit well (I don't usually have to tie them at the gym.)

The shoe is worth the money spent. Wouldnt expect the 5 10 Spire to last that long with prolonged gym/sport climbing use.

Great Friction shoe
By jjwVerified Purchaser from MN on 8/15/2006
Comfort:
Supple
Pros:
Rugged
Best Uses:
Casual Climbing, Trad Climbing

I have own 4 pairs now, 1 for all day with socks, another all day without and 2 pair just snug.

My other shoes were tight and too painful to climb just about anything that involved jamming.

5.10 rubber rocks!

Durable Entry or All-Day shoe
By brendanVerified Reviewer from Paradise, CA on 7/26/2006

the spire has a thick sole so while not real sensitive at first it lasts a long time. It is an entry shoe so it's not great on tiny edges but well worth the price as an all-day or entry shoe

Surpassed my high expectations
By TJVerified Purchaser from NC on 2/21/2006
Pros:
Comfortable, Good grip
Best Uses:
Casual, great for indoor climbing

The laces make for a more custom fit than other five ten models with Velcro straps. I found it helpful to buy a shoe to fit my smaller left foot and let the laces on my right foot out a bit. This wasn't possible with other Velcro styles I have tried in the past. I like this shoe better than shoes I have had costing $40-50 more. Fantastic shoe at any price.
