Better for Short Climbs
By rumbling baldVerified Reviewer from Rutherfordton, NC on 4/9/2007
Comfort:
Cord cuts into achilles, Easy to get on and off
Sizing:
Feels half size too big
Width:
Feels too wide
Pros:
Grips well
Cons:
Bulky, Uncomfortable
Best Uses:
Bouldering, Indoor, Single pitch
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My only complaints are that the cord cut into my heel, and that it was not quite snug enough on top. Despite this, it is a good shoe as far as functionality goes, not great, but there's been worse.

By JTVerified Purchaser from Los Angeles, CA on 2/28/2007
Comfort:
Causes Hotspots or Blisters, Pinchs tendon
Sizing:
Feels full size too big
Width:
Feels true to width
Pros:
Easy on and off velcro, Lightweight
Cons:
Uncomfortable
Best Uses:
Bouldering, Short climbs
Describe Yourself:
Getting Started
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

They were too big, yet the backs of the shoe at the tendon was super tight. It cut in and you could not stand for very long in them. Since they have velcro closure, it is best to put on right before climbing and then quickly take off afterwards. Again they weren't even the right size, they were too loose at the toes and too big but they felt too small and tight at the Achilles' heel

I used them for a while, and the cord that runs behind the heel, dug in to my skin. I decided to cut it, an now it feels so much better. I can actually wear them when Im not climbimg.

an oak of a climbing shoe
By blue buddhaVerified Purchaser from bend, or on 3/20/2006
Pros:
Comfortable
Cons:
Causes sweating, Too rigid
Best Uses:
Casual

Way more rigid than I was expecting. Padded insides are great for comfort, but they completely eliminate sensitivity. It's like climbing in moon boots...tight fitting moon boots.

Pros:
Good grip
Best Uses:
Nice all around shoe

So far I have been extremely happy with these shoes. Some reviews say that the cord cuts into your heel when they are straped tight. I havent noticed that, they fit great.

By novice climber and luvin' it!Verified Purchaser from louisville, ky on 2/17/2006
Pros:
Comfortable
Best Uses:

I thank you for a great pair of shoes.

I've just started climbing and find I can actually climb comfortably with these shoes.

I'm sure, once I improve my skills, I will be purchasing another pair of shoes for more extreme climbing.

Escalante
By Salami_SamuraiVerified Purchaser from South Central Texas on 2/13/2006
Pros:
Comfortable, Good grip, Velcro tightening
Cons:
Causes sweating, some break in required
Best Uses:
Climbing

I climb every day so I go through plenty of shoes and these are holding up well. I wish 5.10s were more affordable but retain quality.

Watch out for your heals!
By Greg BVerified Purchaser from Philly on 1/31/2006
Pros:
Good grip
Cons:
cuts into your heal
Best Uses:
Casual

Actually this is my second pair. [...] Be prepared for the shoe top cut into the back of your foot above the heal. By the time mine were super worn in, I wore through both toes. Comfortable when broke in for trad, sport and gym climbing.
