Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I took these glove on a backcountry snowshoe trip right after I got them. They were just big enough that I could get a pair of Black Diamond power stretch gloves under them, so that I could easily get the Cornice Mitts on and off to cook. I could also switch out my lighter weight action gloves for the mitten liner to dry them out. We woke up to a foot of new snow and -15 degrees. They kept my hands warm and dry. They also come with an idiot cord. I had no idea what that was until I got them. It is just a cord to keep them from falling off when you are belaying or climbing. You can take the cord off if you will not be climbing. The grip on these gloves is great. I have not had them on a rope yet, but they were able to help me get open frozen Nalgene bottles. These gloves work great.
