Great mitt
By big pour dVerified Purchaser from Milwaukee, WI on 3/10/2008
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Pros:
Warm, Windproof
Cons:
Not Weatherproof
Gear Usage:
Cold Weather Living
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The stratus mitt is a very warm mitten for the price/weight. It has a durable palm and is completely windproof. The mitts do compress very nicely as well. The only downside to these is that they are not waterproof. Haven't had a problem in regular use in the snow though.

Finally a replacement...

Finally a mit to replace my old HeliHansen's (which are no longer made). Add a thin liner glove and you have great cold weather versitility and warmth. Just like we used to do on Denali in the 80's and now for skate skiing on the negative number days.

Super Spring Mitts -- Even Better Liners
By Johnny RocketVerified Purchaser from Salem, Oregon on 8/9/2006
Pros:
Breathable, Good Grip, Great Insulation, Snug Fit/Stretch, Tough
Best Uses:
Extreme as a liner only, Hiking, Mountaineering

While these are great lightweight mitts in their own right, they also make excellent liners. I purchased a pair of OR Verglas Mitts and found that they were a little light for winter mountaineering. Consequently, I purchased these Stratus mitts, slipped them into the Verglas shell and Voila! I had them on Rainier, Shasta, and Hood and they were TOASTY.

Toasty, with great grip.
By Slumdogg, the chronically cold hands.Verified Purchaser from Norfolk, VA on 4/3/2006
Pros:
Good Grip, Great Insulation
Best Uses:
Extreme Conditons, Mountaineering

These mittens are super warm. I have Reynodes disease and these mittens seem to do the trick. I have only used them to bike around town in high 30-degree weather, but my hands were sweating the whole time. The grip sticks to everything, which is good and bad. Overall, I'm satisfied.
