I wish I could wear more than La Sportiva's climbing shoes, but apparently my feet are just not the right shape for La Sportiva's shoe lasts. I have very narrow heels and generally low volume feet (I often find myself fitting better in women's shoes..snowboard boots, climbing shoes, ect.), but the toe box on these shoes is a little too narrow/low volume for me(especially on the side where my little toes are). I did not keep these shoes, only tried them on and decided to try another brand for my hiking shoes...I have Garmont shoes now and so far they fit me very well. Nevertheless, the Ventures are very impressive in the way they are built and probably would have lasted me much longer than I am used to had I kept them.
I wear these day-to-day in Wisconsin winters. Waterproof, comfortable, and warm. I too have also used these for a Rim to River and back dayhike in the Grand Canyon, and they were extremely rugged and comfortable. Couple of big-toe blisters, but that was my fault, not the shoe's.

I have trekked to base camp in the Andes with the Venture XCR and have also gone Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim at the Grand Canyon. They are darn near bulletproof. They usually last me 4 months of very heavy use and I've gone through a half dozen pairs now.
