They are a great pair of shoes for every day use in a cold weather, they have good traction in wet floor
I use these to walk in snowy weather & to go to my office job when there's lots of snow. I haven't tried them hiking in good weather yet. They have a comfortable fit and I can wear them hours at a time. My foot measures a 12 1/2 so I have to find shoes that run large or small (nobody makes a 12 1/2). I bought this boot in a 13 (U.S.) and it fits well so it must run a half size small. My foot is narrow to average so I doubt these would fit right on a wide foot. I'm a little disappointed that they aren't as waterproof as I expected. I sprayed them with a water repellant product and they're a little better. I'm happy with them considering the low price and comfort.
i love em but they really crushed my little toe and i think my nail is falling off
The reviews are great - they convinced me to order 1/2 size larger than normal, and they fit perfectly. At the gym they stick to the rock far better than expected. I will provide info on durability, etc., after these boots go up El Cap in 2 weeks. So far they're great.
When I found these boots on sale I figured I would give them a try. I spend all day climbing trees or running chainsaws. So far they have worked out perfect. I normaly wear a 10.5 but ordered an 11 or 44.5 after reading the reviews. The fit it great. I could have got away with a size 44 if I wanted a performace fit. I just ordered another pair in case I will not be able to find them in the future.
Buy bigger, half size bigger if you have normal width feet, full if you have wide feet.
Boot has good grip and good support but it fits small and feels narrow at the toes. If you have a wider foot I would suggest ordering one full size bigger than you would normally wear.
from Hopefully not in Raleigh, NC much longer on 5/21/2007
Tried them out on a little two day, ten mile hiking trip with my dad to hanging rock state park. I was thoroughly impressed with the support and traction these shoes gave. I spent a good part of the day scrambling and climbing in them and they are perfect for approaching a rock face and they're so light, I wouldn't worry about carrying them over the top!
Great for a long hike down, or just a long hike.
Didn't get into any wet situations, don't know how they'd handle that.
Great boot for easy day hikes and when you don't want to turn to a light mountaineering boot. Not too stiff, but has a solid toe box so you could kick steps if you had to.
A very comfortable, versitile boot for all types of backcountry use from climbing to scrambling, on slab or talus.
7 days on the appalachian trail did great

I bought these boots two weeks before an off-trail mountaineering trip in the Sierra Nevada. I wore them on two six-mile hikes beforehand, but they don't really require a break-in.
On my trip they performed well with a 50 pound pack during trail hiking, boulder scrambling and climbing a snow chute with crampons.
During a 20 minute period of vigorously kicking in crampons while down-climbing almost-vertical snow I jammed a toe, but obviously that isn't what these boots where designed for. I waterproofed them with three applications of G-Wax, and I didn't get wet in the snow, but I had a small leak in one of the tongues when I stepped in a puddle.
I followed the guidelines on the La Sportiva website for sizing and converted my US size to European and then went up to the next bigger size and the boots fit perfectly with thick smartwool socks.
The soles are closed-cell foam, so they probably will start to lose their cusion after 600 miles or so, like running shoes.
Overall I think these are great boots for the money, well under half the price of their Gore-tex lined big brothers.
