This is my everyday shoe for nearly every condition outside snow trecking and hiking in stormy weather. I mountain bike every day rain or shine and this is my primary biking shoe. The stiff sole provides for efficient energy transfer and the La Sportiva FriXion rubber has the right amount of shock absorption and durability. The Impact Break System works great for rock climbing aproaches and gnarly ascents and descents; as well as keeping my feet on my pedals.
The cons: For trail running there really isn't enough padding and my feet start to complain after just a few minutes running on harder surfaces. In addition, while the leather and synthetic upper works like a charm for keeping my feet dry in most rainy conditions, a decent splash from a puddle will quickly wet my sock.
Bottom line: If you are looking for a comfortable light hiking, approach, or mountain biking shoe the Trango Light Low is the shoe for you.
If you are looking for a more climbing orientated shoe check out the La Sportiva B5, which is more geared towards vertical persuits. With low profile laces, you can climb long chimneys and cracks without worrying about shredding your laces.
