These are my observations so your results might vary.
I was very interested to try these out because I read some very positive reviews on other sites and have been a Five Ten fan for a while.
My first reaction was that they felt pretty comfortable just walking around the house. Although they seemed quite ?loose? (low volume feet people beware), I thought I could make them work if I tightened down the laces. However, on the trail, my toes were constantly being jammed on downhill runs, no matter how tightly I laced the shoes up. Also, because of the loose fit my ankles were not properly stabilized and suffered a few minor twists. Not good.
In addition, there is very little protection against sharp rocks underfoot and the cushioning is definitely on the stiff side. I prefer shoes that do a better job of smoothing out the hits.
On the plus side the traction is fantastic.
I know everything is made there these days but it?s still disappointing to see ?Made in China? on the shoes of a small US specialty manufacturer.
Anyway, I digress; overall these shoes just did not work for me.
Btw, Mountain Gear is highly recommended ? great bunch of folks.
