I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore runner. I run to 1) cross train and 2) to train when trail conditions are icy or sloppy and don't allow me to cross country ski or mountain bike. I live in the northeast so with the snow, thaw, re-freeze cycle, the trails get very ice covered. I tried the Icebugs out for the first time tonight with the trails more ice covered than I have ever seen them. While nothing is going to give you the same traction and stability as running on pavement or a dry trail, the Icebugs are simply outstanding. I can't believe these are such a "secrete". None of the hard core winter runners around here had any idea what they were when I asked about them. I can't praise these shoes enough. One comment on fit, they do have a roomy toe box, but I consider that a plus. You will most likely be wearing thicker socks in these while running in the winter and the room is a huge plus. Fit otherwise seems true to size.
Mountain Gear's service and delivery were also very good.
