I loved the old version of these socks, but the new ones I ordered stretched out way too fast and bunched up right away. I really think the quality of smartwool has gone down sonsiderably because I looked at the old and new socks together and the old one has a much tighter weave and is better shaped. I used to be a big smartwool fan but after this experience I doubt I'll ever buy their socks again.

This sock is great for summer hiking in cooler areas like the BWCAW. I also like it for walking around the house in spring and fall in Minnesota, when we no longer heat the house.

this smartwool sock is warm and feels like you're walking on soft foam. works well with a thin liner sock in big hiking or mountaineering boots.
