As noted above, the only draw back is that the bootie and the covers don't slip on easily. [...]
I was skeptical, but intrigued about this product for some time before buying it. I finally realized that it was worth the low price to have a camp shoe that I could SLEEP IN. Now I take these on every trip as a part of my ultra-light sleep system (how dorky is that?), and for the first time in my life, whether in bed, or in the backcountry, my feet are the warmest part of my body. [*]. They pack incredibly small, are a few ounces lighter than my other low top down booties, have kept my feet dry snow camping, and have endured walking over rocky campsites. The primaloft inner bootie also fits inside my down booties (if i ever needed to do that)... Traction on snow is BOSS, and i can chill for quite some time on snow without my feet getting uncomfortably cold. the soles don't provide any support when walking on rocks, or provide as much padding for tired feet as EVA soles, but overall, they are well worth the price for their dual uses.
I've always been a fan of down booties but have found many situations where the ground is inhospitable to the soft soles of the original designs. This new approach, employing a rubber over boot, looks like a winner. Haven't had it out in the field yet so the real testing has yet to be done.
i was concerned about sizing, but these fit perfectly. i wear a woman's 9 and ordered a medium, no complaints. these booties keep feet very warm, but not to the point of sweating -which I have found with other booties. they slip easily into the outer shell. the only thing i'm worried about is keeping them from my puppy!
My wife wears these all winter long. Since she got frost bite symptoms on her feet, these are the only booties for her. Thanks PrimaLoft and Montrail!
Just received these but have to say this is a great idea - a bootie that converts from tent/bag use to outside use is perfect for those late night - need to go - times. I can't comment on durability yet. I'm a 10.5 to 11 and fit in the XL so go up a size when in doubt.
These were able to keep my feet warm in camp in the Tetons backcountry, but the inner booty got a little wet as moisture seeped through the seems. Overall a great camp shoe. I could stand in the snow and my feet never got cold. The grip on the outer shoe is ok.
These booties are good booties. Lighter than others and waterproof outer bootie make it cool to me. I thought long and hard about these and decided to give them a try- and I'm glad I did. The outer bootie is good and weatherproof and after it gets nasty from the ground just slip it off when getting in tent- foot stays warm; tent stays clean. They are not quite as warm as others- I would assume comfy to about 40-45 deg. Others complain about it being hard to put on... wipe your tears- it's not any harder than a tall pair of socks.
Delivery was prompt and accurate as always
I purchased these for Alaska camp shoe.
The Primaloft liners are super warm, and the outer is water proof and not very breathable on its own. So you'll want to remove the outer while inside. The ankle opening is very tight, so you need to fight a little to get both the inner bootie and the outer on, but once so, they are comfortable. Definately a hut or tent system only.
I wear a size 11 shoe, avg width. Even with no sock, it was struggle to jam my foot into the size Large, which is supposed to be for size 10-12.
I'm a backpacker. I wear a womens size 7-1/2 and have a thin foot. I felt a size M should suffice. The M bootie is too tight for comfort and not very lofty. A bootie with a removable outer shell is ideal for base camp, but the bootie fits tight and too snuggly around the ankle like a rubber wet-suit bootie. The inner bootie has a leather sole which remains cold.
