These shoes are comfortable right out of the box. I like to use them for light hiking and as a pre and post climbing shoe. The hard rubber front toe box keeps you from stubbing or cutting your toes. Because of the side openings you can get small stones or sand in your sandal if you're on a dusty trail, but I don't find it to be much of a problem. They look great and are well constructed. They're very sturdy and solidly built. I had to order a half size larger than I normally wear but absolutely love them.

I love these comfortable shoes! I wish they were a bit more true to size. I normally take a 8.5 but should have bought a 9.

These are my second pair of Keens. Not because they wear out or anything but because I loved the Bronx and wanted a pair of their sandals.
Keens are the most comfortable shoes in the world and they fit my wide size ten feet perfectly. There is no breaking-in time, you just put them on out of the box and go for a walk in the woods or at the shore which is where I tested my new waterproof leather sandals.

In general, I love my Keens. I wore them whenever I had some walking to do on my trip. They have the protection of a shoe and the comfort of a sandal. However, there were a few negatives. First, the leather Newports take a very long time to dry, so I would get the H2O Newports if you plan to be in the water (or get caught in downpours). Second, when they get wet, or the weather is very humid, they can rub a little and cause blisters on your toes. My husband and I both had this happen. The only other negative is that sand, gravel, and pebbles get caught in them at times. Overall though, they were comfortable from the airport, to caves, to hills, to underwater caverns. I am glad that I bought them.
