Neat little bonus knife. I just clipped it onto a duffel bag and took it out to the field. It's small and light enough to forget about until you need to cut open something and there it is. I wouldn't bet my life on this blade, but its awfully convenient.
Great nik nak type of knife to keep on you. The built in clip comes undone rather easily. If I had paid for this I would have given it the worst rating. [...]
I would not depend on this product. It was sent as a free gift with another purchase. If I had paid for the knife I would have returned it for my money back. Very dissapointed.
everythink ok
No problems
Got this free with an order and so far have used it for cutting tags and, on a bouldering trip to slice open a peach! I like the sleek, convenient size--I'm more likely to have it on hand since it's small.
I received this knife [$] with my purchase of a Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero parka. The blade is sharp, opens easily and locks in place without a problem, but the knife's list of redeeming qualities pretty much ends there. The casing is weak enough that the slightest prying force on the open blade threatens to break the hinge apart, and the clip is so unstable that almost any amount of lateral force will unhook it, causing the knife to fall off of whatever it may be clipped to. Freebies are nice, but I wouldn't trust this knife to serve as anything other than maybe a letter opener.
A worthless piece of junk. Since they give it away for free who cares but no one should buy it.
Nice little freebie - came with my order and not a whole lot to say. haven't used it for anything outdoors yet, but will prob hook it to my backpack. has a nice locking mechanism and requires two handed closing but like i said - for a freebie item, seems relatively well made and might come in handy.
The knife is good, but the clip is very flimsy. I have tried to clip it to my climbing harness but it has fallen off numerous times with very little contact.
Cheap knife, good for a letter opener.
Difficult to open single handed.
Clip is useful.
It's good for camping
For a free knife, I guess I shouldn't have expected more. Nice and small, but seems very cheaply made. I wouldn't depend on this knife for anything but around the house uses.
I love Mountain Gear. I recently ordered an Arcteryx Bora 50 backpack, and they threw this little knife in gratis, [...]. So what can I say about this free knife, I mean I can't really complain about it, right? However, for those looking for a safety knife, emergency climbing blade, or something really hi-tech, this isn't your knife. Very small, very light, I will use it just as a spare blade, maybe keep it in my medical kit. Thanks Mountain Gear!
the item was given for free for buying a backpack. The knife is good but the clip holder is junk.
Poorly made, feels cheap. Clip doesnt have the neccesary spring and stiffness. Blade dulls quickly and is made poorly. If you are looking for a knife of this size purchase the similar model made by Buck knives
For a inexpensive and in my case free knife it is ok for car camping where you really don't use a knife for much. It is lightweight and has a built-in swinging "carabiner" for easy storage. I used it to sharpen a point on a stick for hotdogs (not recommended), to cut open some packages and cut some rope. I wouldn't use it for much else.
Delivery was prompt and in good condition. Customer service was great and on the ball.
Clip doesn't close, so you're prone to losing it out on the trail. Not very useful if you need a survival knife of any sort.
Not bad for a free gift.
GREAT FOR ODDS AND ENDS WHEN YOU NEED A SHARP EDGE

Guess you cant complain for something that's free, BUT, this is a place for reviews. This knife is total junk, I'd rather get a free pair of shoe laces........Or even better, maybe a Nalgene bottle, or a Carabiner? Just an idea......Of course its a nice thought from Mountain Gear, but for advertising I'd say a Nalgene bottle with their name on it would get around more, not to mention its useful, well made, and probably in the same price range as this knife. I dont know if they sell this knife, hopefully not, if they do, diffinently dont buy it.i consider a knife to be a very important tool, that must be reliable and easy to maintain, and this knife falls extremely short. Poor design, poor materials, and extremely poor steel, they couldnt even get it sharp. This knife should not even be used as a back-up or secondary blade. Therefore most people ar egoing to be leaving it in their desk drawer, where nobody will use it or see it, therefore defeating the purpose for Mountain Gear to get any advertising from it, which is why they send it out for free with their name on it. Honestly I think its bad for business, putting their name on such a poor piece of gear. I wouldnt want my companies name/reputation on something like this. I havent dealt with Mountain Gear much, but they seem like an honest/reliable/organized company, hints my suggestion for them to put their name on something like a Nalgene. Nalgene's are cheap, but at the same time reliable and tough and all around a good peiece of gear, plus they'd get more advertising out of it because people would carry them around more often. So, hopefully the guys at Mountain Gear actually read this review, and get something out of it
Small enough and utilitarian to keep on a cllimbing harness in case of emergency.
Saves my teeth, instead of trying to ter or bight throug things I just cut it with the knife thats always with me
I don't have much experience with knives so my rating may not be doing this knife justice. It is tricky to close if you have very short fingernails.
We took the knife backpacking, it is small, lightweight and sharp which is awesome. Unfortunately it is a little hard to hold on to while cutting things like salami.
Cheap construction and not very well designed. Afraid to clip it to anything as the clasp doesn't look like it will stay closed very well. Wouldn't use it for anything serious. Only good points is that it's sharp and was free...
This came free with my shipment and I sent it back with another return. It was that bad. Clip broke the second time I unclipped it. The blade was so short it wouldn't even cut a bagel open. Plus, the body of the knife was just really weak.
its junk, please don't give them away. you're insulting us.
Handy little add-on. I haven't used it yet, but will carry it on my backpack. Just have to remember not to take to the airport.
The catalog says it was designed by the Mtn. Gear Staff - if you're listening: make it open bottles too and it would be perfect for climbers.
Surprisingly sharp and useful knife. I keep it in my kitchen to open things instead of trying to use my large kitchen scissors.
I'm sitting here in the bathtub, drinking Tequila and slicing up a grapefruit with my Gerber Mini-Magnum. You'll notice that I am not using the Fastpacker Clip Knife by Foundton Company Ltd for this task.
While the Fastpacker Clip Knife by Foundton Company Ltd is a fine instrument, I'm saving it for opening envelopes.
I got this knife for free. It feels like cheap [...] junk. No offense to mountaingear, but I wouldn't have attached my name to it. It's definately NOT a [$] knife like it was originally sold for. The kind free thing you get in any schwag bag.
I got this for free with an order [$] - I wouldn't have purchased it on its own. I gave it to my mom to keep in her car in case she needed a small knife for something. I wouldn't rely on it for anything major.
The clip on this knife slips sideways & comes undone. Other than that, it's a cute knife for small jobs.
i am a go lite hiker.would not go on. trip with me.it is another one of those things i leave in car
It's a nice little knife. It was a promo freebie. Sharp. Seems durable for it's size. Little hard to lock/unlock given it's smaller size.
Average delivery time.
I've only had the knife for a couple weeks, so it's hard to comment on things such as durability. It is a good little knife. I love the fact that I can just clip onto anything. It was pretty sharp when I got it, but I sharpened it up a bit. It's small, so the grip itsn't great, but I can hold it and cut things easily. The closing mechanism is smooth and easy, but slightly dangerous. The button you have to push to get it to close is right by where the blade comes down, unless I'm missing something. Overall a great little knife that is easy to bring anywhere and move around.
Delivery was good and prompt.
great for emergencies.
Knife was free with purchase. Difficult to hold, would not be useful for anything needing much force to cut. Clip part seems much better than knife part.
The clip is very poorly designed. I wouldn't take this knife anywhere that I actually needed to depend on it (climbing, camping etc.).
Offering a free gift is great and all but this thing is just going to sit in my desk at work in case I cant find a decent blade
very prompt shipping and delivery, everything arrived in good condition
Doesn't take an expert to see that this is dangerous to keep clipped on your pack. The blade swings out randomly. You could keep it at home, but why because the blade isn't all that great. Plus the clip isn't very sturdy
I received this knife [$] with my order. The first time I used it it came unattached from what I clipped it to within five minutes. I haven't used the knife aspect of it so I cannot comment on that.
a little graiting when opening and closing, but other than that extreemly tough and handy. I order bolts and hangers from Fixe USA and they sent me a micro bolt hanger on a key ring, and I must say that it is very cool to have a carabiner knife attached to a bolt hanger keychain.

Wire gate clip does not fit some of my harnesses.
Knife is heavier than my tiny Spyderco, not as sharp and has shorter blade. Nice concept, needs refinement.

I'd rather spend $20 and get a great little knife for the backcountry.
