Neat little bonus knife. I just clipped it onto a duffel bag and took it out to the field. It's small and light enough to forget about until you need to cut open something and there it is. I wouldn't bet my life on this blade, but its awfully convenient.

Got this free with an order and so far have used it for cutting tags and, on a bouldering trip to slice open a peach! I like the sleek, convenient size--I'm more likely to have it on hand since it's small.

I received this knife [$] with my purchase of a Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero parka. The blade is sharp, opens easily and locks in place without a problem, but the knife's list of redeeming qualities pretty much ends there. The casing is weak enough that the slightest prying force on the open blade threatens to break the hinge apart, and the clip is so unstable that almost any amount of lateral force will unhook it, causing the knife to fall off of whatever it may be clipped to. Freebies are nice, but I wouldn't trust this knife to serve as anything other than maybe a letter opener.

Nice little freebie - came with my order and not a whole lot to say. haven't used it for anything outdoors yet, but will prob hook it to my backpack. has a nice locking mechanism and requires two handed closing but like i said - for a freebie item, seems relatively well made and might come in handy.

I love Mountain Gear. I recently ordered an Arcteryx Bora 50 backpack, and they threw this little knife in gratis, [...]. So what can I say about this free knife, I mean I can't really complain about it, right? However, for those looking for a safety knife, emergency climbing blade, or something really hi-tech, this isn't your knife. Very small, very light, I will use it just as a spare blade, maybe keep it in my medical kit. Thanks Mountain Gear!

Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Uncomfortable grip
Best Uses:
One cut use

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

For a inexpensive and in my case free knife it is ok for car camping where you really don't use a knife for much. It is lightweight and has a built-in swinging "carabiner" for easy storage. I used it to sharpen a point on a stick for hotdogs (not recommended), to cut open some packages and cut some rope. I wouldn't use it for much else.

Service & Delivery comments:

Delivery was prompt and in good condition. Customer service was great and on the ball.

Guess you cant complain for something that's free, BUT, this is a place for reviews. This knife is total junk, I'd rather get a free pair of shoe laces........Or even better, maybe a Nalgene bottle, or a Carabiner? Just an idea......Of course its a nice thought from Mountain Gear, but for advertising I'd say a Nalgene bottle with their name on it would get around more, not to mention its useful, well made, and probably in the same price range as this knife. I dont know if they sell this knife, hopefully not, if they do, diffinently dont buy it.i consider a knife to be a very important tool, that must be reliable and easy to maintain, and this knife falls extremely short. Poor design, poor materials, and extremely poor steel, they couldnt even get it sharp. This knife should not even be used as a back-up or secondary blade. Therefore most people ar egoing to be leaving it in their desk drawer, where nobody will use it or see it, therefore defeating the purpose for Mountain Gear to get any advertising from it, which is why they send it out for free with their name on it. Honestly I think its bad for business, putting their name on such a poor piece of gear. I wouldnt want my companies name/reputation on something like this. I havent dealt with Mountain Gear much, but they seem like an honest/reliable/organized company, hints my suggestion for them to put their name on something like a Nalgene. Nalgene's are cheap, but at the same time reliable and tough and all around a good peiece of gear, plus they'd get more advertising out of it because people would carry them around more often. So, hopefully the guys at Mountain Gear actually read this review, and get something out of it

I've only had the knife for a couple weeks, so it's hard to comment on things such as durability. It is a good little knife. I love the fact that I can just clip onto anything. It was pretty sharp when I got it, but I sharpened it up a bit. It's small, so the grip itsn't great, but I can hold it and cut things easily. The closing mechanism is smooth and easy, but slightly dangerous. The button you have to push to get it to close is right by where the blade comes down, unless I'm missing something. Overall a great little knife that is easy to bring anywhere and move around.
