A Little Big But Well-Made

I carry the Surge for one reason: all of the pockets and compartments. It is set up very well. My complaint is that it is not designed for smaller torsos. It's cubic inch capacity is just a little to large. If this pack had all it's perfect features, but in 1750-1850 cu in, it would be PERFECT. The torso range specified, in my opinion, should be 19-22". Love the features so I keep using it, but the torso size, for me, is a bit big.

Comfy, durable backpack with a million compartments, all of which are well-placed and help keep my pack organized. Theres even a perfect spot for my laptop right against the back pad. I would never ever reccommend this pack for actual hiking or going outdoors due to it's hefty weight, but for someone who carries up to 25 pounds of books to and from class everyday, I need something durable and lasting and this definitely delivers.

I use this as my computer bag and it is nearly perfect. The compartments are all really logically organized with easily accessible pockets in all the right places. The laptop compartment is just large enough to accommodate my Apple 17" laptop, but the pack itself is not too big.

I'm a student and need to haul books and my laptop to class so having a pack that can carry these items without straining my back or shoulders is exactly what I wanted and this Surge pack does just that. It feels sturdy but light and comfortable, and the organization system for pens and other items is perfect for my needs. I like to be able to quickly grab my pen and this pack provides that access quite well. However, the zippers could be a little easier to use (it's difficult to zip) and the straps are a little tough.

Best Uses:
Great for books, Great for laptops
Describe Yourself:

North Face backpacks are fantastic. They're comfortable, spacious, and definitely really cool looking. The Surge in particular is great because of the compartment for laptops, which is great for college students. There's definitely a lot of room in there too - I can easily fit at least two large text books and two binders, as well as some smaller items in the front pockets. I highly recommend this backpack!
