BEST MULTI PERSON TENT EVER!!!
By Illinois Pat from Chicago, Illinois on 9/5/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to set up, Large area covered, TONS OF ROOM
Cons:
NONE
Best Uses:
Backpacking

I have used this shelter for over two years, and I cannot think of a reason not to recommend it to anyone. You can dig out a huge area in the snow and set this up in winter, or use it wide open in the summer. For two people the space is unparalleled, even if they are over 6 feet tall. The weather proofing is bomber, as well as the supplied guylines. So buy it.

How did I live for so long without this
By Toolshed (AT Section Hiker)Verified Purchaser from Bethlehem, PA on 8/18/2006
Pros:
Easy to set up, Incredibly Easy to use, Large area covered, Multitude of Options
Cons:
Not Fre Standing
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Car Camping, Hiking

I have seen the trekker tarps and insert for sale over the years and always danced around the thought of owning one, but went through the motions of owning and experimenting with the Noah Tarp, regular 8x10 tarp, Megamid, Betalight, MSR Missing Link, Eureka Zeus 1, SD Clip Flashlight, and about 6 other super-light tents (They all ended up on EBay), before I saw this on sale. I decided to pick it up on a whim.

The first time I played with it - The afternoon I received it, I set up the tarp, thinking if I don't like it I won't set up the insert and can easily package it up and send it back. I absolutely was enamored by all the different tarp options and the enormous amount of room under it. I then set up the insert separately and then again inside the tarp. WOW!!!! I have been searching for this all of my backpacking life and it was always right there in front of me.
I also really like the fact that I can use carry just the tarp for winter camping.
I just wished I had taken that chance sooner and saved myself all the fussing with everything else out there.

This tent rocks!!!
By MuddybikerVerified Reviewer from Rochester, NY on 7/26/2006
Pros:
Easy to set up, Large area covered, Wicks water well
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Car Camping, Kayak trip

I have used this tent on several kayak trips and then on a few car-camping trips with family. I am a big fan of MSR products so I had high expectations for this tent when we first used it. It has surpassed every one. It held its shape in very high winds and kept us and our gear dry during some rainy nights. You'll definetly want to set it up in the yard before heading out-especially if this is your first time using guy lines-but it is very easy to set up and adjust once you have it figured out. It is light enough, too, that we typically take both the insert and the tent. I have had several different backpacking tents in the past couple of years and this is by far my favorite. I plan on keeping it for a very long time.
